I’ll be honest with you, I get a tad jealous when I watch The Hills and not only are the girls dressed to perfection, but they are enjoying their pomegranate martinis at some of the hottest rooftop pool bars.
Don’t get me wrong, I love the nightlife here, but sometimes I wish I could hop off the metro and somehow be on the West Coast, especially with this brutal summer heat.

Wouldn’t it be nice to taste the delicious mint of a Mojito while your toes are splashing in the pool of one of those cool West Hollywood hotels? Sounds unrealistic right? Think again.
Introducing The Donovan House hotel located on the newly revived 14th Street at Thomas Circle. This place defines Chic in the City.
My first chic moment, if you will, was when someone had to swipe a card for the elevator to take me to the roof. It was so exclusive that I felt like I was dodging the paparazzi as the doors closed.
When I stepped out of the elevator it was as if I had just landed in LA, minus the jetlag. The rooftop was dimly lit with candles and a fireplace. Ladies reclined on the sleek white beach chairs wearing summer dresses layered in vintage costume jewelry. Men leaned on the ledge drinking their beers or bourbons while overlooking the incredible view of DC. It was all so surreal.
In the center of the socializing was the striking blue pool. Reflecting off the fireplace, the pool elegantly glowed creating a soothing atmosphere. I did not want to leave. Not only was the cherry Mojito absolutely divine, but I felt relaxed.
With the breathtaking view of DC, fabulous cocktails, and a swimming pool, what more can a girl ask for? Everyone left their stressful lives on the first floor.

The Donovan House isn’t the only sleek new hotel in town. From Kimpton’s Lorien Hotel in Old Town to the brand new W opening in early July, it feels like the region has gone through a badly-needed Extreme Makeover: Hotel Edition.
So, escape the bright city lights for a night at The Donovan House or any of the other chic new hotels this summer and make the girls from The Hills oh so jealous!
